Pros
Bulger Partners is a fast growing advisory firm - one can expect a professional climate developing around a startup core. And, as startups go, there were some disagreements between teammates, as the reviews here can attest to (startups are a contact sport - make what you will of that). Keeping that in mind, I will say that, after spending 2 years during the firm's transition into a consulting-only business model (and the explosive growth that followed), I experienced many highlights along the way: - Exposure to C-suites / investment professionals and case velocity are top notch - Software experience is truly differentiated (generalist shops can't compete) - Associates are provided real opportunities to participate and manage up - Leadership promotes continuous improvement and is receptive to feedback - People are collaborative and fun to be around (esp the junior employees) These were benchmarks that stood out since day 1. The firm also has a clear entrepreneurial backbone and the experience is rich for people of this character. If you aren't afraid to fall forward and up, BP can serve as a terrific platform.
Cons
Like many startups, there are areas that need smoothing as the company scales: - Culture should stabilize around core values - Middle management is stretched thin - Professional development needs work While these initiatives are in place today, they should be prioritized at the highest level.
