Pros

Friends and money was to be made, but compensation is better elsewhere!

Cons

The CEO is the single biggest liability this company has. Hiring is based on personal relationships, not qualifications. People get brought in because the CEO can’t say no to friends, and they get let go when they don’t perform, which was predictable from day one. Meanwhile, employees who actually challenge him or outshine him get pushed out under the guise of “business decisions.” The pattern is obvious to everyone on the inside. When an employee makes a mistake, there is no coaching. Instead, the CEO singles them out publicly and puts them through what can only be described as a humiliation ritual. Forcing them to repeatedly address the error in front of others until he decides he’s satisfied. This happens regularly and is one of the most demoralizing things I’ve witnessed in a professional environment. If you disagree with leadership or call out a lie, the lie gets bigger. You will not win. And if you decide to leave, be prepared this company has a pattern of pursuing legal action against former employees. Not because they have a case, but because the CEO uses it as a control mechanism. Business strategy is essentially nonexistent. When things go wrong and they go wrong constantly… it is never leadership’s fault. Ever. The processes are so slow and broken that we regularly lose strong candidates to competitors mid-pipeline. The company is losing ground every quarter and doubling down on the same dysfunction. Everyone sees it. Nobody says it out loud, because they’ve watched what happens to people who do.

Pros

There was money to be made and some coworkers are enjoyable.

Cons

The CEO can talk about every big idea he has over and over again, but you will never see it happen. Every conversation he has is an overexaggerated version of what actually took place. If you ask a question that reflects on him, you are only giving him the chance to build his ego. No one is happy, and no one will ever be happy here. This place is a high school hallway where everyone talks about each other, spreads rumors, and causes problems. You find two good people, and you're lucky if that. Everyone used to know what they were doing, but the CEO has made everyone so beaten down that nobody knows what they're doing anymore. On their best day, sure. On every other day, it's like watching your grandma try to unlock her phone. Morale is so low, its disappointing to see people come in and change overtime. Bonding with your coworkers is forced, and company trips to Cincinnati are required to do the weirdest activities and talk about things that could be over Teams. Its strange when every other place I've worked has allowed me to have a drink at dinner but here the CEO doesn't you to drink when bonding with the team at activities.
