Pros

The only benefit about working here is the job is interesting and I've made some good friends.

Cons

Too many to list. Read the review from 2014, literally nothing has changed. The culture here is horrrrible - it's toxic. Management is terrible and the cause of most of the problems. They don't understand the job or what's needed. They're non-responsive when there's a problem and lie to cover up their mistakes. They NEVER take responsibility. They play favorites and take sides all the time, and seem to love setting staff against each other. Training is non-existent despite all the promises when you join. Give it about a week where they make a show of trying to train you, then the excuses start and your basically on your own. It's always understaffed and staff turnover is horrible. Everybody gets tired and stressed which often leads to drama. Work life balance sucks. It's long hours with no breaks and occasional really late nights. Most locations have weekends. Seems to be the same story across the company.

Pros

-Good Pay -Christmas bonuses (not very large ones but they increase w every year your with the company but its something) -Your learn a lot. Most of the doctors are really eager and happy to show you things, explain things and genuinely want you to know more. - Frequent company lunches - Company outings

Cons

For the most part it's a pretty great company to work for. However your experience will be based off of what location you work at and the Doctors that work at that location. The Rockville office seems to have a high turnover rate, mainly with the receptionist. The health insurance is pretty terrible and the employee discount for in house services. You get a 20% discount which isn't too bad but any person in the vet field gets the same discount. So there really isn't an advantage because you work for the company.

Bush Veterinary Neurology Service Response
8y
Good Morning, I have only just recently come across our company page and noticed your review, so I apologize for the delay in response (I have notifications set up and will be monitoring this page more closely in the future). I am happy that you are enjoying your time at BVNS and, for the most part, think we are a great company to work for. I see that you are not happy with the health insurance that is offered - I would love to speak with you further on what exactly you don't like, what you would like to see in the future, and any ideas you may have to make improvements. I would also be more than happy to discuss the topic of employee discounts and where we compare to other services. Feel free to reach out to me through email or phone so that we can set up a time to talk (I am more than happy to keep your name anonymous regarding our discussion, if you wish). Pros

Pay, benefits, schedule, work life balance

Cons

The work is wonderful. The pay is great. The schedule is great. There’s more staff than there is work to do, but the assistants don’t know the things they should to help the techs. In my experience there, management isn’t in tune with what goes on in the clinics, the DVM favors certain employees and the others get treated terribly. They were trying to rebuild from the last walk out, but looks like they are headed for another. The really bullied one of the LVT’s there and they just fired her. Witnessing all of this is just awful. I do not recommend working here. Toxic environment
