Pros

The leadership team is fabulous, and is sincerely guided by their core values. My co-workers are all amazing, and it's an honor to work with each and every one of them. Lots of variety in projects, clients, and industries keeps the work interesting - always new and compelling challenges. Even though we all work remotely in different towns across the U.S., there is a wonderful sense of teamwork at all times. Really a great place to work!

Cons

No cons to report. In the past, we had a less diversified workforce, but we hired a professional recruiter who has helped us make great strides in that area. Now when we have an all-company video conference call, there is a much more diverse set of smiling faces in attendance!

Pros

The company culture and core values are unlike any other place I have worked. The company listens and tries to iterate on processes and feedback. Always an open door policy with anyone. I have learned more at the job than any other. There is also opportunities to continue to grow and learn more

Cons

I think a con can be we have so much work right now.

Pros

Lots of smart people to pull experience from. Onboarding is great and makes you feel empowered to learn, mess up, and learn from your mistakes. Mentors were fantastic and had a wealth of advice to get me through onboarding. Had a feeling like I found a place I could call home and was looking forward to meeting everyone in the coming weeks at the offsite.

Cons

I left my previous job for this, unfortunately burning bridges. I was drawn to the opportunity to build my skills at Bytecode and learn from their team throughout onboarding. It felt like a supportive atmosphere and all of the feedback I was receiving was positive praise. Days before our big offsite meeting, the rug was pulled from under me! You're told to expect a call from HR somewhere around the 60 day mark so it didn't ring too many alarms when the request for a morning call came around the 35 day mark. I join the call and I'm told that they didn't meet revenue targets and a doing a group layoff and I'm part of it. No further explanation. I'm logged out of my account and access is closed within a minute of the call. Later I find out that the rest of my entire new hire group was let go without notice. The impression I got from this is that Bytecode doesn't plan long term or they have a very sloppy way of planning resource management. In another comment they mentioned a lot of thought goes into their decisions but it didn't seem like much thought went into this one..

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re glad our onboarding and mentorship made a positive impact, and we’re truly sorry for the disappointment caused by the layoff. This was the first in Bytecode’s history, and we’re actively reflecting on how we can strengthen long-term planning to better support our team. We appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
