Pros

-Free Parking -Free Basic Membership -Good Pension -Decent Benefits -Option to work from home -Systems were functional and optimal for the most part -Discounts were good and fair

Cons

-Pay is significantly below industry average -Integrity not rewarded for sales agents and policies that did not follow guidelines swept under the rug by management which lead to employees writing blatantly tainted policies to earn commission, who cares about FSCO right? -Blame environment when a bad policy/claim shows up, producers name get's thrown around in gossip mill -Underwriting department acts like a sorority club for old girls. Good luck showing interest. Correspondence with them has high undertone of condescension - HR is as flaky as they come. They will intentionally evade your phone calls and emails about a position despite you being an internal applicant. That is how they treat their valuable employees. -CAA will saturate you with the same old stories without doing anything industry changing. For example did you know that Jay Woo grew up poor and had nothing to eat as an adolescent? Of course you did because he will tell you as a way to connect with his employees from his ivory tower. Or how about that Travel Member whose policy expired and CAA still paid out their claim because CAA cares so much about member safety and yet leave so much to be desired when it comes to their front line staff. -Employee annual Christmas gala for 2016 was cancelled and the next day Jay Woo advertises that CAA donates 100k to his charity project Hope Air. This is CAA in a nutshell. - One of the supervisors in sales used to be a mediocre sales agent in his hay day - how can anyone take him seriously when he gives you advice on how to close a sale when he couldn't close a door if it was in front of him - Some people running the show don't even know the difference between broad form or comprehensive form if their life depended on it. I wish I was joking however CAA likes to hire higher-ups from different departments with zero knowledge of insurance. -Marketing department is a joke with no innovation on their part, the only way to make the phone rings is by paying the public to call our lines

Pros

They migrate the system to Guidewire in 2012 which is great. Location and Cafeteria is good.

Cons

Very poor leadership. There is not value for your work. They only value you if you talk sweet and are in good terms with the Sr. manager. New position get filled without new job openings and are mostly gone to Sr. Manager's friends. I've seen same person got promoted to new role twice in a year without new job opening or competition. Promotions are always a secret for obvious reason. Extremely political environment. I’ve seen some very talented analyst and developer leave this company because of office politics. No appreciation for your work, not even a simple thank you. If you dare to question the leadership, expect HR to bully you. Pay is low compared to industry. One thing that surprise me is how this company continue to win top GTA employer despite the high employee turnover rate.
