Pros

This firm offers the best of both worlds between a traditional law firm and a solo practice. I get the benefit of working and collaborating with incredibly accomplished and intelligent partners, yet I get to maintain a wonderful amount of flexibility and autonomy. Not having inexperienced associates at the firm is a major plus because it means the partners already know what they are doing and they can serve my clients very well. Even though we do not maintain traditional offices, the firm does a great job of encouraging collaboration and interaction among partners through regular face to face meetings, annual retreat, and other social get togethers. The firm's technology is second to none when it comes to supporting a cloud-based and secure legal practice, though it did have a small learning curve for an older attorney like me. The firm's management really does stick by their values and vision, giving the entire partnership a true sense of stability about the future. The formula-based compensation plan is very transparent and is a welcome change from the subjective compensation packages at Big Law. I especially love that I can work from home--or anywhere else for that matter--as long as I'm taking care of my clients' needs.

Cons

Not having daily interaction with my partners is definitely a change, but honestly, I sort of feel like I know my partners at Culhane Meadows even better than I ever knew my partners at my Big Law job.

Pros

The caliber of the attorneys is, for the most part, top notch and I really enjoy spending time with my colleagues. The compensation system is entirely transparent, which is a plus if you've ever worked anywhere and wondered why the person in the office next to you was more highly compensated when he didn't seem to work as much or as hard. I love that I can work from virtually anywhere in the world; so long as I continue to provide quality service to my clients and meet or exceed their expectations, no one cares that I've left the office for an hour or two to take care of something personal. Terrific benefits available - I socked away a bunch in my 401(k) this year.

Cons

Sometimes when a partner needs a resource, the work goes to the person who "buzzes in" first, not to a partner who should be doing the work. Lots of phone calls (although you can take them in your pajamas).
