Pros

The team I'm working on right now has great comraderie and communication. Your experience at CME in IT would depend on which team/pod you are in. Most of IT has 3 days WFH, 2 days in the office.

Cons

Some IT teams are required to be in the office 3 to 5 days a week. Promotions are tied to politics - and the directors meet to discuss. The director with the most clout gets more staff promoted. Lately, you get the feeling upper mgmt does not trust their employees when WFH. This has led to them wanting more to RTO. Honestly - most of us get more done when WFH. The open office space is highly distracting/loud. Midweek - it's tough to get meeting rooms, as so many are on our floor.

Pros

Strong engineering culture with exposure to large-scale financial systems, distributed architecture, and production-critical platforms. Good opportunities to learn modern cloud, performance, and reliability engineering.

Cons

Bureaucracy and internal politics can sometimes outweigh technical merit. Employees who take ownership or challenge inefficiencies may face delayed recognition, unclear growth paths, and shifting expectations, leading to frustration and disengagement over time.
