Pros
Interesting working with trains. Aspects of the job change daily. People you work with are generally easy to work with. Base pay rate is adequate.
Cons
Upper management is impossible to work with. Many do not even know what the daily operations involves. They expect you to do the impossible. They lure you into the position with stock options, more vactions, bonuses, higher rate 401k matches, company pension etc. In three months half of it was discontinued. You rarely get to use vacation days as there is a high rate of people quitting and you work six 12 hour shifts a week to cover vacancies. I died at age 49 of a massive heart attack. In 2 weeks I would have had 30yrs of service and qualify for the company pension. They made my disabled widow wait another 7yrs before giving her one half of my earned amount. To them you are no more than the job you fill and the statistics your job contributes to.
