Pros

401K contribution best out there. They match your first 2% at 200%, and then they match your next 8% at 100%. That means if you contribute 10%, you get a 12% match. Sick time for casual illness is not limited to a certain number of days; if you are sick, you simply do not come in. You may have to file a claim with Prudential, which just entails telling them how you are sick. Some managers only require this after being absent a certain number of days. You can work from home without calling Prudential. Holiday shutdown - you get a free week off between Christmas and New Years, which does not come out of your vacation time. Depending on your role, you may have to work during holiday shutdown, but then you will be comped those days later on.

Cons

Culture is conservative. Fox News plays in the cafeteria. The company tends to support right-wing candidates. Low diversity in white-collar, salaried positions. Perceived lack of upward mobility for women. Upward mobility is almost nonexistent. The "self-nomination" process requires you to look up internal job postings on your own and apply, just like you would to an outside company. Performance and Leadership program determines your bonus potential; it follows a matrix-based system, which uses a bell curve, where a certain percentage of employees in each department needs to be "Red" and a limited percentage can be "Green". Green is given only with significant written justification by the manager. The system is well-known for being a poor measure of performance and a hindrance to morale. No policies encouraging schedule flexibility for normal salaried employees. Some departments implement their own "work-from-home" policies, but this can be subjective and at the manager's discretion. Many managers do not allow working from home at all. Vacation time is low - 5 days for the first year, after the first 6 months. 10 Days until 5 years. Then 15 days from 5 to 12 years. Then 20 days until 20 years. Then 25 days. Not sure if it goes up again after that. Upward mobility is almost nonexistent. The "self-nomination" process requires you to look up internal job postings and apply, just like you would to an outside company.
