Pros

Working with special needs individuals is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have at a job. It can be challenging, yet very satisfying to help people reach their goals.

Cons

The best individuals in the company no longer work there, the current management is not people oriented, but dollar oriented. I understand that the bottom line is important in a for-profit agency, but employees have not had a pay increase in years, are given little recognition or reward for their efforts, and there is no reward or incentive for a long term employee.

Pros

I enjoyed having a flexible schedule as a licensing worker with CPES. There's not a lot of micro-management that occurs here. This was my first job out of college, so you don't need a lot of experience to get in the door.

Cons

There is *zero* formalized training offered by CPES that goes along with this position. It's very much "sink or swim"; I had to learn as I went. My immediate supervisor didn't know how to perform 90% of my job functions--he had to defer me to other people with my job title who had been there longer than I had. It makes no sense to me that a program manager should be able to supervise employees (and make more money than them) while not understanding the functions of the job. By the end of my three and a half years here, he was asking me how to do aspects of HIS job. Upper management has very little understanding of how to run a business and keep employees happy. High turnover. Company has poor management skills and poor financial success.
