Pros
Wages (only because I’m required to put something)
Cons
Working in a toxic workplace. If you’re not a manager, the company doesn’t care about you. You get told to upsell certain items, that ultimately get the store manager a bonus, you don’t get anything, if you don’t upsell, you get a disciplinary. Area managers will talk badly about the store staff, always side with the store manager. If you have an issue you need to go straight to HR to get any response. You get guilt tripped into working, if you are sick, they will make you feel bad for not being able to work. Most of the time, you won’t get any support if you want to progress in the company. When I worked there, I didn’t get paid for the job I did, I did more work than the manager, cover shifts, fixed problems, and when I left, the area manager decided to talk badly about me, saying that the store runs better now that I’m gone. Just after I left, they made it mandatory to upsell an optional item, if you fail to sell enough of it, you get a disciplinary, for context, the item is Optional! Costs extra, not everyone wants it, so you can try your hardest to sell it, but will still get written up. Regional managers, Area managers and store managers don’t care about anyone below them, you’ll have an easier time going to the assistant manager if you have any issues. Store managers get bonuses, special events, and even chances to win cars, all why the store members do all the work for them. The fact I have seen multiple people over the years leave because of management, and not a single manager has been questioned on this. Any bad review targeted towards a store managers tends to get ignored, but if you get one as a staff member, you’ll have a meeting about it. I put “Wages” in pros, but I don’t think that the pay is even worth it with the amount of mental abuse to get, how poorly you are treated by customers and management. The company will also hide things from you that you have full legal right to know, they prioritise “favourite” members of staff. Considering this company’s net worth is over half a billion. You can barely get by. While managers get paid a salary, which is way more than hourly pay, for doing the same job. The only manager job they actually do, is get staff to do the work for them while they enjoy the perks. You get no form of bonus, or benefits for working for them.
