Pros
* Can't complain about the salary * Tech stack is relatively modern and legacy tech is few and far in between - something good especially for a financial institution * Hardware purchases reimbursed * Willing to hire remotely outside of their home country * Relatively generous time off, but if you are hired as a contractor you are not eligible for public holidays
Cons
* Timely communication is one of the challenges, and yet you will get chewed out if you are delayed on your own work, which isn't even your doing in the first place because of others' delays blocking your own work * Knowledge is siloed more often than not, so it is hard to work independently - a key requirement to enabling remote, asynchronous work * Feature roadmaps are, for some reason, non-flexible. Timelines are not negotiated with development teams and are solely decided by the business stakeholders. As a result, crunch time is not uncommon. Especially considering one has to juggle production support and mentoring and supporting colleagues.
