False Advertised Job and Horrible Atmosphere - IT Support Calculus Software Solutions Employee Review

Working for this company has been such a brilliant opportunity to learn and develop technical and social skills. I can't recognise myself from where I started in terms of my website skills and confidence talking to customers, third parties and colleagues. I have seen complaints in other reviews around training and learning the system - but there no better way to learn than to dive into the deep end which is a necessary mindset to thrive at this company. I have been working at Calculus for a little over a year and look forward to many more. Although the conflict of interest between HR and the owner, both genuinely care about their staff and it shows especially when voicing concerns amongst the hectic, busy environment. I have now worked for both the support and web teams respectively. Both of which are managed by intelligent, friendly and humorous people who lookout for the members of their team.

There are currently no incentive schemes in place. Introducing rewards that motivate engineers to push beyond expectations could make a meaningful difference. Especially if those incentives combine both individual and team-based targets.

Calculus Software Solutions are experts at victimising their staff members, through workplace bullying, homophobia, sexism and racism. Processes, procedures and goal posts are forever moved by the managing director who is inappropriately overbearing and attempts to micro-manage every department & employee within the business. Unfortunately the majority of the workforce is burnt out, stressed and depressed. This is due to progressive overload in terms of responsibility and workload. The HR "team" consisting of the managing directors partner (a textbook example of conflict of interest) is uninterested in staff welfare and mental wellbeing. Issues raised in relation to workload are met with idle threats related to salary reductions, forcing you into submission. There are no advantages of working for Calculus Software Solutions. The company is disinterested in career progression or appropriate training for employees. You'll stagnate in this company, won't be suitably compensated for your time, and essentially be a number on a spreadsheet.
