Pros

Calix is an exceptional company to work for, embodying a remote-first culture that fosters trust in its employees. The flexibility to manage personal errands, attend appointments, or simply take a break for a walk during the day is a benefit I have not experienced before. The people at Calix are the cornerstone of its outstanding culture. They are considerate of fully booked calendars and mindful of different time zones, ensuring meetings are scheduled within working hours for all participants. I foresee a long and fulfilling tenure with Calix.

Cons

While every company has its challenges, Calix has experienced significant growth over the past few years, which naturally brings about change, especially in the ever-evolving telecom industry. This is a fast-paced environment, and it may not be suitable for everyone. Calix is improving in building career development paths for each role, but having a clearer understanding of potential advancements would be beneficial for employees seeking growth and career establishment.

Pros

Decent salary. You'll also quickly gain valuable experience in how not to operate on your next job: a lesson that will serve you well in future roles.

Cons

Old-fashioned work culture where you're expected to execute without question. Excessive overtime work, release cycles are chaotic, and there's little appetite for improving systems or sustainability, it's all about following orders rather than thinking critically.
