Pros
Union wages, but you can get that at any other union, non-union company without the hassle! A very few of the people working there are decent you just need to find them!
Cons
Time and experience do not mean anything here. You will get places if you kiss the foreman's ass real good, no experience necessary! They keep losing good people to other companies, and leaving all the worthless ones. You will bust your butt on the job as you watch about half the others on the job just drive, stand around and not lift a finger all day, (this is when it pays to be a relative, friend ect. ect.). I guess they are making sure their bodies hold up til retirement. And then when it comes to working extra hours, those are the people that get to stay! As far as safety goes, its all about safety in writing but not on the job. It is only a matter of time before somebody gets killed, and it will probably be on a truck with a bad driver. If you work here do not work too hard because it will not get you anywhere, save yourself for a company that will appreciate you, unless you are a relative, friend, ect. ect. Then by all means get out there and do something for once! If you speak out about any of the things that go on, you will just be screwing yourself. They will give you less hours, call you back in the spring late or lay you off first in the fall, lead you on while you are sitting home waiting and hoping to go back to work! All the while people with a year experience have been working just because they buy the bosses coffee, beer, soda, car parts, you name it! One word to sum it up NEPOTISM. Definition: Nepotism Favoritism shown to family or friends by those with power or influence as in business or politics. This is not the same company that it used to be, it used to have a great reputation as a company that was good to their employees, a fair company, a place to make a living if you were a good worker! Now if you are a good worker, somebody else will take the credit for it! There is a serious problem at the foreman's level!
