Pros

I got to test drive new cars.

Cons

I was told I would be getting salary $2,300 plus commission. What they don't tell you is that if your commission for the month is less than $2,300, you will owe them that money. (Your commission is $1,500, they will pay you the 2300, but you will 'owe' them the $8,000 off your next check. Very common in car sales.) I would be working 13-14 hours a day, but I wasn't allowed to go outside and try to sell cars (the only way to make a commission) and when I would sneak away from my desk to sell, I would be reprimanded. We had to constantly harass people on the phones to get people to come look at cars. And even though the person on the phone would make an appointment to see ME, when they got there, the manager would tell them "Oh he's new, you're better off with so-so" and I would lose yet another sale. In my first month I made 6 sales, but on 4 of the sales, the FINANCE department would forget a signature and they would have to send somebody else out to get it and they would take my name off the sale and give it to the person running to get it signed. So I was only commissioned for 2 cars that month. My wife was going into labor any minute, when I told my manager I was going to need to leave and take a week off to be with my newborn and wife, they told me NO. He said "When I married my second wife, I worked that morning and was back the next day. You can be here too." Yeah, second wife. And he was married a third and fourth time and he's still divorced!
