Pros
- Fun and enjoyable if you like to work with students.
- Gets to participate in the same activities as the students.
Cons
- Measly pay. For first timer, $130 for a 3d2n camp, plus a compulsory half to full day pre-camp briefing. Small increment only after 4-5 camps.
- No proper accommodation for the instructors. Instructors are attached to the students' rooms to be a watchdog, preventing students from sneaking out at night.
- Only 1 instructor shirt given. Additional shirt costs $15, deducted from pay. FYI, it's compulsory to wear the instructor shirt.
- Reporting time as early as 6am. For those living far away from the reporting venue, best option is to take a cab down. There is no transport allowance given.
- Huge responsibility and accountability for the low pay. E.g. instructors may be assigned to be in charge of logistics, and any loss of items will be deducted from pay.
