Pros
- Opportunity to build processes from ground up - Working with ambitious and passionate young people - Unique global brand - Great bonus structure: beneficial as the company is growing rapidly so make more $$$$ - Decent perks: nice office, gym, 50% jacket discount
Cons
- Culture: it is a very toxic culture which is based on dishonesty, gossip and favouritism. feedback is inconsistent and very emotionally charged. Poor relationships amongst different departments. It is very fear driven. - Executive Team: All of them hate each other, meaning no one can agree on a long term growth strategy for the business. The initiatives change frequently, often leaving lower level employees confused about the reasoning. Decisions are made without explanations. No clear direction. No transparency. - Career progression: No room for advancement. Unlike many companies, they do not have a process set up to discuss and plan for a future career with the organization. Attitude is very much you come in do your work and that is it. - Salary: Is not on par with the industry - the only place you make a lot of money is if you are a Director and above. They will lure in young people with the name of the brand but will not pay you to show they respect you and your efforts. - Vacation or time off: This is seen as a negative and is often used as a weakness by the HR and Management team against employees. - Turn over and firing : A lot of people get fired - everyone from low level to CMOs and CFOs. People get fired with no reason or explanation. People also leave quickly - is incredibly high because people don't see a long term future with the organization. HR does not see this as a concern, but it often causes for a trickle down effect on the work for the next person who takes over that desk. In short - Canada Goose hires fast and fires fast. There is no room for support, transparency or consistent feedback to grow professionally.
