Pros
1. The Best Part is "No Dress Code". As long as your dressing is decent and modest, nobody will bother you. 2. Abundant Development Projects and not much of Support Projects 3. No Working in Shifts at all. 4. No Variable Pay but i guess this is changing from the Next Financial Year. 5. Ample Onshore Opportunities and no Minimum criteria. (In Some companies, you cant go onshore unless you have completed 1 year in the company). Nothing of that sorts here. If you have the potential and if there is a Requirement, your visa processing will start right after you join. 6. Easy to Switch projects and thus more Exposure and more learning. Unlike Big Companies, you are not stuck to one Project for 5 years . I have seen people work on 5 projects in 1 year. Its Pretty easy to switch Projects here. You do not have to be afraid of Manager's wrath if you want a release from the current project. They handle it very well. 7. Small Company with 300+ people. So not many processes are in place. This can be the greatest advantage if you are coming in from a Big Company. Reaching out to people and getting things done is comparatively quick and easy. (Eg: You have an issue in your laptop. You can quickly walk to the IT Guy and he will fix it then and there unlike the Process in Big Companies wherein you have to raise a Request in their IT portal and wait for a week for a Support Engineer to reach out to you) 8. The Entire Candela Labs is one family. There will be events such as Diwali Celebration, Christmas Celebration wherein the whole of Candela gathers together. Its such a beautiful moment and it gives you a feeling of togetherness. 9. If you are interested in Technical and not much inclined towards Management, this is the Best Place to be in. I have seen people at manager levels still work on Coding. This can be viewed as a Pro or Con. 10. The Management is pretty amazing, There are no hard core hierarchies. No Micro Management. Managers are mostly involved in real project work rather than people management/resource management.
Cons
1. The Parking Lot is always Jam Packed. If you plan on coming to office in 4 wheeler, Good Luck finding Parking Space !! 2. They have very limited number of Conference Rooms. I guess 2 in each floor. Probably 8 - 10 altogether. 3. No Concept of Team Outings/Team Lunch/Team Dinners etc. Atleast i haven't seen any in the last one year i worked here. Also they do not give out any goodies such as Bags, Jackets and stuff. 4. The Per Diem for onshore travel is way too low. Probably it is less than half of what is given in other companies. So not much earnings/savings in case of Onshore Travel. 5. They do not take up any Projects from Clients from Domain other than Insurance/Banking. Also i don't think this will change in the near future. So if Insurance/Banking doesn't interest you or if you want to build your expertise in some other domain, maybe this isn't the place for you. 6. They deal with clients only from Asia and Africa regions. They do not have clients from America/Europe/Australia but this is slowly changing but its gonna take a while. 7. The Salary Account is only with Axis Bank. Unlike other big companies, you do not have a plethora of options to choose from. 8. They do not have much Monetary Reward Programs. 9. They have their own set of Products such as Anthill, Jellyfish, Dotsphere etc etc. So most of the Project Solutions are built on these Products. This might become a Hassle when you want to switch again to bigger companies. You might not have the experience in the required Product Suite that the other company is looking for although these internal products are equally good. 10. They do not have a Cafeteria. They only have a Break Out area on the 4th floor where you can have lunch/tea and no more than 40 people can be seated at a time. Actually , The Reception, The Gym, The table tennis court, A Kitchen, A Bathroom and a Changing Room and some Lockers and a mini Amphitheater kinda place and the Break Out Area .... all of them are located on the same floor, on the 4th floor. So you can imagine how Jam Packed it must be !!! 11. I don't think they have offices elsewhere in India other than Bangalore. And its just one office in Bangalore located near MG Road. So there will be location constraints for people staying far away.
