There are far too many to list here, with the strangely cult-like culture, secrecy, and absolute disregard for the employees. The owner is the biggest con, and when I say "con" I mean it in the derogatory manner. He wouldn't know what a balance sheet was if it fell into his lap yet he claims to have all of this accounting knowledge. He also doesn't disclose to clients the fact that most of the work is done in the Philippines for $4/hr. He brags about this to people like me when he hires them. Some day people will see the fraud that transpires.

Pros

We are not micromanaged. We have the freedom to choose our own schedule (within reason) and dress very casually. Training is based on experience, but will start from the bottom if necessary. Will train (or be provided with resources) for each and every aspect of the job. Very casual environment and everyone is easy to talk to / ask questions. Clients are assigned to an employee, so you are responsible for all of those client's needs and therefore you learn a lot of different elements of bookkeeping. Client communication is almost entirely over email or phone (few if any in-person meetings). Great job for those that are self-motivated, organized, and willing to learn.

Cons

Company is growing pretty fast, so the structure of the business has been and will continue changing. New clients means having to reevaluate priorities which can sometimes be difficult. Sometimes clients don't respond for months, and when they do it often results in big time-suck. Since we're not micromanaged, you may have to make it clear when you need help / won't meet expected deadlines.
