Pros

CapTech is full of smart, driven people that make work genuinely enjoyable on a daily basis. Success at CapTech is very much dependent on how much effort you put into your career – you are expected to contribute to your account and the company in order to get ahead. In general, I have found the company to be very supportive of my career goals and am actively encouraged to learn new skills and apply them on projects. At larger consulting firms, training can really take a back seat, so it’s refreshing to be somewhere were training and skill advancement is valued. People who are intellectually curious and motivated do best at the company. The culture at CapTech is really what you make of it. There are a variety of activities – from charity + service events, happy hours, sports game… there is no expectation that you have to attend all these events, but it’s a great way to make connections with your co-workers and leadership. I do believe that senior leadership in both the Reston (DC) office and the company on a whole is trying to constantly improve and keep a positive culture at CapTech. I have found all the leadership to be friendly and open to suggestions/feedback about how things are going in the office or the account. The DC office is big enough that there are a good variety of projects and roles, but small enough that you can know most of your coworkers.

Cons

There are some accounts in the office that are a bit of a rumor mill (spreading gossip) that can create a negative experience for some. Diversity does remain an issue – most of our college hires coming in are from UVA, and are of mostly the same socio-economic class (and race). I think CapTech could really benefit from expanding their college reach to get a more diverse class of new hires. Overall, there is very little female leadership, but I do see some signs of this changing.
