Pros
I have been with Capacity Builders since 2009, and can only summarize my experience by saying that it has provided an often overwhelming opportunity to learn and grow in the field of nonprofit and grant project management. More importantly, I have learned more than I could've dreamed about working in Navajo communities. This job fits perfectly with the values I cherish most: work hard, play hard, and never-ever stop learning.
Cons
It's not always easy. The work load is demanding, and I am often called upon to work long hours to meet the needs of projects and staff. Additionally, the company grows so quickly, that constant re-tooling of policy and procedure to meet new demands takes place. Management needs to focus on professional development for staff and improving the work/life balance.
