Pros

Decent middle management, good start up culture, dogs, decent social activities

Cons

Misogynistic upper management, communication non existent, lad culture Capital on Tap are quick to promote and fill the gaps with unqualified people. Mostly the men get prestigious titles while the women are left with undefined job roles that don’t match what they’re doing. The men in the leadership team do not respect women enough to discuss and share feedback so if you’re a female, you end up learning about it all through a third party. Forget about direct feedback from your manager if they are female because they probably weren’t respected enough to be spoken to either. The worst part about all of this is as I write this review, I know the people team are going to get their friends in the office to flood this page with good reviews to hide the truth. But I urge you to look at the leadership team and acknowledge that there are no women who hold Cheif of positions. There are a few female directors, but you will probably not see anymore women enter the leadership team. Or if you do they will be overshadowed by men. If you’re looking to grow as a professional and a female COT is not the place for you.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are especially pleased to hear that you enjoyed our culture and thought our middle layer of managers are great - we couldn't agree more! As you highlight, our leadership team is majority men, and we very much appreciate this is not the balance we aim for. The adoption of the career progression frameworks is one way we’re looking to improve this. They have supported many people to get promoted within the company. In 2022, 32.5% of women and 22% of men were promoted from entry and mid-level positions, supporting a stronger female pipeline for future senior positions. We are also training managers on how to have career conversations and give feedback, to further improve communications and support for people. Whilst we actively try to ensure everyone feels included and heard through our regular feedback rounds and company surveys it appears that for you we have fallen short here and I’m sorry to read about your experiences. I’d really like to talk to understand your time at Capital on Tap and what we can be doing to ensure that people feel heard and recognised. If you feel comfortable, please email me at philippa.munitz@capitalontap.com to talk through.

Pros

Honestly can’t think of one. All the decent people have left.

Cons

How this company is still operating is beyond me. Not only are the business practices shady but the people are too. They hire young so they get inexperienced people who don’t know what they’re doing so no one questions managements decision. The CEO doesn’t know the first thing about people and doesn’t want to hear about product pitfalls. If you raise your concerns they will find a way to get rid of you. They have made promises about the business model and positive projections but you never see success reflected in your pay. A lot of the staff is two faced and will pretend to be your friend then try to boot you out. They pretend like they care through fake wellness and learning incentives but never forget you’re just a number. Unless you’re “like a brother” to senior management you will get absolutely nowhere.
