Pros
The premise it operates on is very well put together. The structure for completing work and the information on completing tasks. This is all only focused on the writing. when it comes to the research and support you are facing an entirely different animal!
Cons
The title says it all: CONS!!! i had read the reviews and it seemed to be a dodgy company but I was happy to take some projects for the experience. I had low expectations coming into it but as I say I was happy to try it for the experience. They managed to shatter even the very low expectation in a couple of weeks and it never got better. No genuine dialogue with writers. The editors and "support staff" push responsibility back onto you constantly. I asked for assistance understanding some aspects of how to write for a client and was constantly told to refer to the info i had been given. Can they explain how that is support? why offer to answer any questions if the answer is "go look it up". The reality is they work a numbers game and just take as much as they can from you before moving on. No loyalty and no desire to upskill, develop or help writers become better contractors for them. Despite filling in information on subjects I am proficient in, was never given anything remotely close. Instead was given increasingly abstract and difficult to research topics with less and less direction. Again the onus is shoved back onto you without any meaningful communication. it takes a certain type of person to be so bold faced with their decpetions and so cowardly when they go hiding (even from DMs). I knew what to look for but as I say, their expectation is that you research topics for hours and hours to ensure it is to the highest quality (meeting client expectations) then offer the worst pay anywhere only on the word count. I made the point that i am happy to write content but that the research involved is simply unrealistic for anyone. The answer was to take me off the project and stick me with an even more ridiculous one. The negative reviews reflect the state of the company in my experience. i would imagine the positive reviews are done by the management and friends and family as I have seen nothing to make me think anyone would be happy to work in such a pressurised and unsupportive atmosphere.
