Small, friendly business specializing in servicing Apple product - Technician Carbon Computing Employee Review

Fast paced environment where you are required to do troubleshooting and repairs as quickly as possible. Worked in a team and later alone with full responsibility of the department.

Minimal or no support from management. Our ideas and suggestions went unheard or were ignored. Was required to put in overtime hours without overtime pay as it was annual salary and now per hour. Stressful during high repair amounts certain times of year. Minimal incentives to achieve more. Never and I mean never received positive feedback when I increased the company income. We were told to make 10% markup on parts while other places charged 40%. Once I increased to 40-60% on my own I did not get a pat on the back for keeping company afloat. Was promised review and raise multiple times and it never happened. Was only told that we are losing money year after year and it's not possible even with 60% staff cuts. Sales staff spent much time just chatting and doing absolutely nothing, service was swamped yet no one helped. Salaries were nearly identical and yet sales team also had access to bonus opportunities which service had none of. Fairness in this is no-existent.

Working at Carbon Computing part time has given me the opportunity to be at the centre of innovation in my community. Every day I meet people who are doing really amazing things. It has empowered me to see how rapidly changing technology is also changing the way people work in a variety of different business settings.

I can't really think of any Cons that are directly caused by the company. Advancement potential isn't as strong as it would be in larger companies, but it is on-par with similar sized companies.
