Pros
A business with lots of potential but being run into the ground by owners out of their depth and only looking to line their own pockets. The positives here are the colleagues who are almost all very supportive and great people who deserve to be treated with far more respect than is offered by the Directors. Due to the utter mismanagement of the business you can also gain a lot of exposure to new areas of work/business here but only if you are prepared to nod along compliantly with all that the Directors say.
Cons
The business is run by two Directors who only care about the bottom line and their own profits. Wages are extremely low for the work expected and customers are mistreated wherever and whenever the owners can get away with it. The standard rule is to do the bare minimum possible without getting caught, even when dealing with very vulnerable customers. The industry is compliance heavy because of people like these Directors - I’m unsure if clowns or cowboys is a better descriptor. The HR department is the worst you will ever experience. Personal relationships and incompetence cloud every decision and policy. My time here saw regular occurences of workplace bullying, sexual harassment of female staff, racial slurs and inappropriate comments. This came from senior figures within the company, including named Directors, and is ignored/laughed off by HR. The mental health of all employees is disregarded and members of staff breaking down in tears and suffering mental health crises is commonplace. In a vain attempt to combat this one Director hired his ex-wife as an ‘impartial’ presence in the department! This is a sinking ship and I would avoid it at all costs until a change of ownership occurs.
