Pros

At least the check cashes which is surprising because I was told of a coworker that held a couple checks before cashing and they bounced. Aside from that, there are absolutely zero pros.

Cons

- no raises - no communication from management unless it is when you do something wrong - the management makes you feel like a number, they don't care what is going on in your personal life and the less you share the better off you are - constant daily pressure to meet productivity using outdated equipment and software systems that lag and error out - dishonesty from management - high turnover, and you aren't even told when someone is leaving- regardless of years of service. - benefits offered are subpar - reimbursement checks can take up to a month to receive - no effort is made to build morale within the company, you work remotely and are left in the dark about job performance unless you make a mistake. If an act of God occurs- ie power failure then they just expect you to clock out without pay. If you were working in a building (nursing home, home health agency, hospital) and this happens they wouldn't just send you home with no pay.

Pros

SHPS is scared to death of lawsuits, therefore, you can get away with almost anything you want to. Many employees abuse the policies (attendance, dress, attitude, performance) and very little is done to address the issues. Good flexibility for work/life balance (but not all positions can offer this). Have seen some concern and initiative from a small handful of upper management.

Cons

HR is too afraid to do anything. Therefore, the handful of hard workers have to put up with the bad apples. Employees habitually abuse the policies mentioned above because there is no follow up from management. The company used the 2008 recession as an excuse to withhold merit increases across the whole company. Here we are in 2011 and still no pay raises. Management didn't even address it this year. Most employees are pretty unhappy so it makes for an unpleasant work environment. Pay scales are far below standards for the Louisville and National standard. No bonuses - cheesy Christmas gifts. Not a lot of PTO time compared to other local companies. Insurance is expensive. Company spends too much money flying executives around the nation (+hotel, meals and transportation) as opposed to hiring local employees to fulfill upper management positions.
