Pros

Excellent quality of life and flexibility. Until recently, an amazing group of co-workers.

Cons

This start-up is in trouble. Over 20 people have left or have been let go within the last several months, yet the CEO tells us we are doing fine and not to worry. They have a real management problem right now which is too bad since there are a lot of dedicated people who go above and beyond for this company. I have seen the mistreatment of women first-hand and it's embarrassing. Those of us left behind are sweating it as there is no job security at all.

Thank you for your review. Over the past months we have worked on transparency, communication with the employees about our strategy, and we have implemented several changes in the way we managed teams. It would be great if we could talk directly about your feedback regarding our management, implemented changes, and additional pitfalls you still see. We will highly appreciate your feedback on this matter. If you ever witness any mistreatment of women at CARTO, please contact, our D&I Ambassadors or HR department and we will act immediately.

Pros

Maps are really cool and the product was interesting. Remote first.

Cons

The leadership team is lost. The company is 10 years old and struggling to find its sales positioning or growth. Startups need to grow to live….I’m not convinced there is any vision or competitive spirit to win in the space or set their employees up for success. The leadership will blame you, and then ensure you are out the door and take no accountability. This is not a company I would recommend. I would look at the tenure of the senior leaders as a representation of the current state of affairs.
