Pros
Great money, and union protection under the facility I was at. Every employee/ operator on the floor were great to get along with and make the days very enjoyable. No fault point system is great to maximize time off from the work.
Cons
Company tells you during interview along with HR that you work 40 hour work weeks with the occasional Saturday in the fall. In reality you work 12 hr days 6 days a week, then during tobacco season in the fall you work 13 days straight with one day off 12 hour days. I had one month where I made just over 10k from overtime. Toxic work environment. Production supervisors in the union setting always are trying to write up and fire employees for the craziest reasons. High turn over rate which adds to longer days from lack of skilled employees.
