Pros

Great people Great culture Great cause No expectations of pulling all-nighters or other silicon valley startup toxicity Above-average starting PTO that you're actually encouraged to take Credit is given where credit is due Openness to experimentation / forward-thinking solutions Not many tiers of management = great vertical communication, visibility, and accountability

Cons

Little to no compensation visibility - very difficult to gauge whether you and your peers are being treated fairly relative to your capabilities This, coupled with infrequent review cycles makes for a feeling of being stifled as your responsibilities grow faster than your position Responsibility coverage distinctions are blurry at best Assignments are vague and scope creep is rampant Meeting fatigue Mediocre office transportation benefits

Pros

I worked under Erik (CEO) and he gave me tons of tools to succeed. Like they bought me this $1k course in marketing my first day in. They will invest in you, as a person. I came in when they were smallish (less than 10 people) but I was given tons of autonomy to make decisions on particular things when it came to products. Once in a while, if I scored the highest on their app I got a lunch sponsored by Centaur and we had weekly drinks + dinner + after-work activity (bowling). They put a ton of effort into their people and I saw for Erik, that people mattered to him. Very understandable boss. They're also working on products that impact people's lives so being able to speak to some users from all over the world and hear their stories was very motivating! Kira, Tom, and Gia are pretty rad too! Erik became just more than a boss. To this day we keep in touch once in a while! Great guy, great people, and an even greater mission! Speak up, this is a place that I think embraces different voices with rationale behind it.

Cons

Stronger sense of direction. At times, I felt a bit lost in regard to what we're doing. However, I'll trump the fact that they were figuring themselves out. The overarching mission was clear but the steps to get there were a bit grey. But hey, that's a start-up!
