Pros
The best part about working here (dependent upon department) is the coworkers.
Cons
High patient ratios, ED experiences high volumes regularly and often have to board patients for 24-48 hours in hall beds or recliners as inpatient units are understaffed or are blocked off due to their ratios. Recently been a major push to downsize (send nurses/techs/medics home) regularly and a push to take a lunch break daily (this should be standard but when you already have 6-8 patients, you can’t watch your buddies’ 6-8 patients while they’re at lunch and your own) as this will “help us hire more nurses.” Regardless of the input management receives about how unsafe it is, above them continues to push (CEO, CNO, etc.) but if something bad happens, it’s not their license on the line.
