Pros

Magazine team has been working together for awhile and are very professional. They make sure to guide interns through everything as well as teaching them anything they might not know. The assignments will give you a chance to get around all of Charleston as well as the surrounding area. Photo interns will assist for local photographers, very helpful for getting experience and work in the future.

Cons

Some of the equipment is outdated which can have problems with trying to get work done quickly. Interns rotate out after three months usually so it can be a chore going through files of someone who isn't around.

Pros

I really enjoyed the group I worked with, everyone was very welcoming and it was such a great family environment. At first it might have been nerve racking, but eventually, everyone gets really close. I learned a lot and there was a lot of patients with the mistakes that I made. There is a mix of interns and full-time graphic designers so there is always someone else that might have the same question you have. I used and understood Indesign much more than once did--which is great! You end up learning a lot of communication skills by calling people on the phone requesting images.

Cons

The internship is not paid. There is a bit of disorganization within the company. When I first arrived, no one really directed me with what I had to do/ who I should ask for a new task. I was lost for the first two weeks. Occasionally when tasks were given to me, they weren't given me in great detail (at first) so I would end up doing the task for a while before someone told me what I was doing was wrong, which was irritating.
