Pros

Contracting at ChatterBoss is a win-win for anyone in who is a VA and doesn't like self-promotion or selling their own business. Their relationship managers help advocate for you with clients, and you can renegotiate your rates every 6 months. I loved my long-term clients and still have a great relationship with them. I also loved the flexibility of the schedule--I could set my own hours.

Cons

A lot of the cons come from being a contractor: no benefits, hourly rate that can feel low after taxes. Also, jobs ebb and flow, so it might take a while to get your first client.

Pros

ChatterBoss was my first job outside of education. The team and managers are so supportive of your learning, your needs, and any issues that arise with clients. They are incredibly understanding and more than willing to help you when any issue arises. They are highly knowledgable in relationship management and can help you through just about any issue.

Cons

It gets kind of lonely working by yourself and of course there is the 1099 contractor piece. But overall, I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about ChatterBoss. So far I have been there almost 3 years.

Pros

ChatterBoss was a great launching point for me when I was laid off from my EA role during Covid. I had enough experience that I qualified for the highest-level assistant role, which provided a decent hourly rate, but still a far cry from what I had been making in my corporate role. I have met many wonderful people/clients in my role with chatterboss and have formed lifetime friendships with those I've served. It has been a great place to form relationships. The owner, Valerie, is very kind and engaged in the business operations. I do feel, however, since Valerie has taken a step back, things have gone downhill as new, younger, less experienced individuals have stepped into leadership roles.

Cons

ChatterBoss pays me only 59% of the hourly rate they charge my clients. I feel this percentage is very low and therefore I have to work over 50 billlable hours per week to make a decent income to support my family and kids who are in college. That's IF the company can even supply me with these kinds of hours, which most time they cannot. Furthermore, Chatterboss promises each assistant a back-up admin assistant, but they are incredibly few and far between, stretched too thin, and most and not reliable or able to do the job with which they are tasked with excellence. Luckily, I have been able to establish my own business as an online business manager making 4 times the amount ChatterBoss provides, and it's growing fast. Soon I'll be done with this company for good.
