Pros
I really enjoy how generic a lot of the reviews are on here that speak highly of Chaucer. It's almost as if they hired people to write the reviews given the really bad reviews I've seen on here. The advantage of working at Chaucer has been working with other companies...BP etc.
Cons
Chaucer is the definition of corporate scum. They embody the vices of every money-hungry company in its treatment of workers, the extreme discrepancy between worker's pay and workloads, and a total lack of vision. I worked with a co-worker here who went above and beyond for Chaucer and vowed to stick with them through the ups-and-downs of the oil and gas market in Houston. While everyone else jumped ship, she stuck around, did the work of four people for $25,000 less than the next co-worker and was eventually let go after the CEO came back from a trip to Dubai. Treating co-workers so coldly and inhumanely as to let your most loyal employees suddenly go by reading termination paperwork like it's off of a script is outrageously cold. The company lacks the warmth and family atmosphere you would expect from such a small company. Perhaps this is why turn-over has been so high in all levels of management at this company over the past 2-3 years.
