The Worst Sales Culture I've Experienced - Sales Check Point Software Technologies Employee Review

Pros

The only genuine positive was the base salary & corporate health cover. Beyond that, I struggled to find anything I would consider a meaningful advantage of working here.

Cons

The management team was, in my experience, inexperienced and lacked the leadership needed to build a successful sales culture. There was very little sense of teamwork or support—everyone looked after themselves, and people were often more interested in advancing their own careers than helping their colleagues succeed. Instead of backing their salespeople, senior management felt distant and unsupportive, with little understanding of the challenges in the field. The biggest issue, however, is that your entire career at Check Point depends on the accounts you're allocated. Get a strong territory with customers that have budget, projects and potential, and you've got a fighting chance. Get a weak patch, and you're set up to fail before you've even started. Despite that, management still holds the individual rep responsible for the results, rather than acknowledging the massive impact that territory allocation has on performance. To make matters worse, the commission structure is one of the weakest I've seen in the cybersecurity industry. You have to hit 50% of your quote before you get paid a decent commission. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not a company I'd recommend to anyone looking for a supportive, high-performing sales environment.

Pros

The core responsibilities offer solid experience, and many team members are dedicated, talented, and great to work with.

Cons

Lack of HR Support: The company lacks a safe, objective framework for employee feedback. When legitimate management issues were raised to HR, no corrective action was taken. Instead, it resulted in direct retaliation from leadership, which was left unaddressed by the organization. Significant Under-Market Pay: Compensation is well below industry standards for similar scopes of work. To give context, transitioning into a comparable role at a different company yielded a 37% increase in base pay. Flawed & Inaccurate Sales Compensation: The commission and incentive structures for the sales organization are unnecessarily convoluted. This complexity frequently leads to errors in commission payouts, causing widespread frustration among sellers. Notably, these calculation mistakes are consistently detrimental to the employee and rarely seem to resolve in the seller's favor. Siloed "HQ-Centric" Culture: There is a heavy disconnect between corporate headquarters and regional teams. The culture feels highly insular, creating an "in-group" dynamic where those outside of headquarters have very limited visibility, influence, or opportunities for career progression.
