Pros

Model of care- providing care for the neediest population!

Cons

I am unsure where to start! Training in Miami is completely different from the reality. The goal for the company is to see your patients monthly. I have never been in a role where you are forced to make patients come in monthly. Everything is based on numbers- so if you are not seeing your patients that frequent than it's reported on your numbers. I have had patient who do not take any medications and up to date with all screenings and was forced to come in every month. You are required to have a completely full schedule. Oh- but we also take walk-ins. The walk in process is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. Pt can walk in whenever for whatever. You are required to see them before patients who have scheduled appts. Lunch- what's that!. They do not care about WORK LIFE BALANCE! We also have an amazing transportation system for our patients. We pick pts up and bring to their appts. However- they can come whenever. They can be an hour late ( I have seen some as up to 3-4 hrs late) or really early. You are also required to see them right away. Admin time- NO --- they do not offer that at all. You either have to stay late or work from home to complete paperwork. Too many meetings! It is a meeting for everything. We are also required to chant the "CHENMED WAY" every day. Very cult like atmosphere. They do not let your practice how you want to practice. Monthly emails about medications that need to be changed. (because of expense). This company says VIP for their patients, but what about the staff. Very high turnover and they do not seem to care. Our office has almost a full turnover. If I could give "0" for all ratings- I would! I probably could go on and on.

Dear former medical provider, Thank you for your feedback. Due to the rapid growth and unique demands our model requires and the smaller panels of about 400-450 patients, we do embrace standardization for best practices and we also increase our expectations for the level of care and service we provide to our patients compared to typical practice since the panel sizes are about 5x smaller. Unfortunately, our outcome-based model is not for everyone. Medical school didn’t train us to see our patients as often as it take to keep them healthy and out of the hospital and some clinicians find it difficult to adjust. But we believe the more we see our patients the better we can get to know them. The better we get to know them the more they will trust us, confide in us, and allow us to coach them to better health. Seeing patients frequently also allows us to detect slight changes in their health and act before a minor issue becomes a big issue. It also allows us to simplify visits and focus on the key issues a patient faces. The seniors who make up our patient panels are some of the most marginalized and forgotten members of our society. We choose to honor them with affordable, VIP Care that delivers better health. So, yes, we want to see them whenever they need us – and that includes walk-ins. We are also on a sharp growth trajectory and that requires standardized processes and structures that will help us successfully replicate our model as quickly as possible. There are entire communities waiting for a health care model like ours, and we want to reach them as quickly as possible. I would be happy to speak with you and see if we could provide additional support that might help you in our model. I do understand that our vision to be America's leading primary care provider, transforming care of the neediest population is demanding. For many of our providers, seeing that they are making a difference both in their communities and collectively across America, it provides them fulfilling purpose and personal opportunity. I hope to provide the same for more and more providers as we continue to improve our processes and strive towards our vision.

Pros

Remote Work Flexibility: The ability to work from home offers a great work-life balance and a highly flexible day-to-day environment. Excellent Peers: The general staff and fellow employees are incredibly nice, professional, and great to collaborate with. There is a strong sense of peer-to-peer camaraderie.

Cons

Disrespectful Direct Management: My immediate supervisor frequently displays a disrespectful and condescending attitude toward direct reports. Constructive feedback is non-existent; instead, mistakes are met with public or private hostility rather than professional coaching. Complete Lack of Support: Management offers zero support when challenges arise. They provide no guidance or assistance leaving direct reports entirely on their own to figure things out.
