Pros
- Local programs make a difference for kids, especially chemo pals. - Some of the staff are incredibly hard working, caring and talented people - A few key individuals on staff and on the board have kept this organization afloat. Their loyalty is admirable despite the poor treatment of staff.
Cons
- extreme challenges with hierarchy and micro management from executive team - Executives lack trust in the people doing the actual work even though they could not do the role themselves. Major disconnect. - Heavy focus on the brand and not the direct service. Too big of a brand team for a non profit. - Executives take little interest in their staff unless it’s for show and often take credit for their work - Executives become defensive and hold a grudge if challenged. Not just the CEO. This is true for each of the top 4 leaders in the portland office. - The turnover and focus on what’s “new and innovative” takes away from the meaningful and impactful programs that once existed.
