Pros
The most commonly shared positive view of CircleUp is the people and I would have to agree. The team is hard working and extremely smart. There's so many knowledgable people in their fields that are more than happy to share and teach. Leadership is genuinely caring and the level of transparency they show is refreshing. It doesn't feel like they're pushing their own agenda, but instead just trying to build a successful company with a good work culture. We're not perfect - we don't have to be - but there is a lot of good intentions around improving where needed. It's very rare to find a unique product like Helio. It's fun to tackle challenges that have never been solved before. Our product team has some of the best in their fields and I'm excited to see what Helio evolves into over time. If you like to take initiative, put the time in and learn new skills then you'll love it here. It's a start-up, leadership wants you to grow, but they won't spoon feed you growth (nor should they). They do a really good job of rewarding those who want to build something here and put the effort in.
Cons
We have individual business units that don't overlap (an equity fund + a credit fund + a product team + other teams) which can make effective communication tricky. We haven't figured out how to seamlessly blend all of that together. Most information is shared but if you miss an all-hands its easy to be out of the loop.
