A lot of mistrust from management - Bar Staff Citrus Event Staffing Employee Review

Pros

- working at festivals and events in the UK

Cons

- I worked a 14 hour bar shift with 2x20 minute breaks. You are not paid for the break and are expected to eat/use the toilet/rest in this time - the managers treat you like cattle. - the bars are often under-staffed so there is extra pressure on those present

Pros

There is always work available and it's easy to secure.

Cons

The pay is usually the minimum. We were expected to arrive nearly an hour before our shift actually started so they can do their admin, whilst still receiving no pay for this There are no travel incentives either, even if you have to travel halfway across the country. The breaks are as short as they could be (20 minutes on a 12 hour shift) - which is totally unreasonable considering the work environment This may be just my experience but the lowest paid staff e.g. the bar workers are treated horribly by the managers - like they are slaves - the managers walk around gossiping in the back doing nought. (They're not all like this but I've seen it enough) You really don't feel appreciated for all the work you've done either, not even a thank you from the heads for being on your feet keeping a bar afloat for 12 hours. Some of the people that were hired didn't have the slightest idea of what to do behind a bar so I would end up doing their jobs too, it's badly organised.
