Pros

Getting to connect with students in need of academic and social emotional support.

Cons

Thrown into a 1700 hour year where you’re offered a plethora of resources that are surface level deep. You attend a class of 15-30 students daily and run an after school program, essentially being an interventionist without the proper trainings or certifications. Be prepared to work 50+ hours a week from August to June for 1360 biweekly pre tax.

Pros

You do very meaningful work and the staff truly care about you and what you are doing.

Cons

School placements can be quite far from where you live, and the days are long (7:30 am - 5 pm). Often is exhausting, but you stay for the kids.
