A job, not a career - Project Engineer Clark Construction Group Employee Review

Pros

- Pay/benefits are just ok - The people, in general, are awesome. There’s a common feeling of “we’re all in this together.” - Grinding is usually rewarded, management constantly watching your progress. Almost guaranteed promotion every 2 years until you reach executive status. - HUGE resume boost with the skills you learn and name recognition.

Cons

- The construction industry just sucks in general but I figured Clark’s vast resources in DC would help their job sites, they do not. - Some people actually enjoy working 60+ hours a week with weekends and they eventually become the leadership. Most others just burnout at a certain point. - Yes, GCs always struggle with subs, but they do NOT enjoy working with Clark. We have so many jobs there’s no choice for them, and it makes getting anything out of them very difficult. Every one I’ve worked with tells me how much more they like other GCs. - If you don’t “bleed blue” (work 10+ hour days, go to the happy hour, and sign up for a committee), good luck.

Pros

-Interesting projects -Exposure within the industry

Cons

-Almost every review I’ve seen everyone says over worked. They say it’s the industry but Clark is known in the construction world for that. Working 12 hours in the field in normal and expected. - they favor certain people and make them little mentees under long term employees. Those people are then given a gold star. -Departments who you think would care about their people ( HR and Communications do not) -become so woke yet don’t actually react -Make the new vacation policy look like a benefit but it’s actually less time and keeps them from having to pay out if you leave - take pride in “safety” but expect you to drive to work in a snowstorm because they cleared the parking lot. The amount of people that were amazed at that email is insane.
