Pros
Fantastic work-life balance: no questions asked if you're sick or need to leave/stay home with a sick kid or emergency. More PTO than I know what to do with. Very relaxed on in/out time. I love almost everyone I interact with, whether coworkers or customers (students), which I've never been able to say about a job before. Having a paid week off from Christmas to New Years rocks. Retirement is fantastic if you're willing to stick it out.
Cons
Raises are few and far between, sometimes nonexistent. I've been here 2.5 years and have gone up 81 cents. Insurance is pretty expensive. Education is ostensibly encouraged, but they won't pay for conferences or certifications. Power is very much held onto by the upper echelon and politics are abundant. When someone leaves, most of the time their duties are spread to one or more other workers instead of hiring a replacement. Not much room for advancement.
