Pros

Some of the smartest people working on climate issues, offering genuine pragmatic policy options to policymakers who are in desperate need of guidance. This org fills a niche that absolutely needs to be filled.

Cons

The senior management oversaw massive growth over the past few years and completely botched it. They provided no guidance to where and how staff should be added, constantly changed strategic guidance and did not shore up funding for all this growth until it was too late. This is a group of leaders who have spent their careers in small, parochial NGOs who have no clue how to run even a mid sized international organization. This stuff is not rocket science, but they refuse to do the obvious things that every other organization does because they're obessed with being the smartest kids in class. Voices who raise concerns are sidelined, people who fall in line are elevated. It is a real disservice to all the great and smart people that work there that the majority of management seems to see the task of actually running the organisation as a distraction from "the real work".

Pros

Excellent organization if you enjoy solving complex problems. Staff are extremely passionate, dedicated to their work, and focused on impact. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and intentional about breaking silos. Leadership (despite being stretched thin) is truly top notch, and recently added leadership capabilities are already proving to be effective.

Cons

Remote work environment is a con for some; DC and Boston have offices that staff can use.
