Pros

I had the opportunity to join a team where I could significantly expand my knowledge of cloud development and work with a modern tech stack. The company runs several projects, so the team dynamics and atmosphere can vary. In my case, the project was technically interesting and up-to-date, though unfortunately hindered by poor management.

Cons

Unfortunately, my team lacked a clear vision and was heavily micro-managed, which significantly impacted motivation and productivity. While this might differ across teams, in my case, both the team leads and delivery management appeared to be lacking in leadership and strategic direction. The focus was on control rather than collaboration or innovation, which I personally found frustrating. The team atmosphere was also quite rigid. There was little sense of camaraderie or shared purpose — people were primarily focused on delivering their individual tasks, with minimal team spirit or engagement, making the work experience feel isolating. Career progression within my team was practically non-existent, with no clear path for growth or promotion. Additionally, the company imposed a requirement to obtain AWS certifications, yet offered no practical support in the form of training, materials, or dedicated study time, which made it a burdensome and unfair expectation. Moreover management was not transparent regarding project state and deadlines.

Pros

Work alongside a diverse an talented team. Strong trust with AWS Opportunities to learn and grow professionally Remote first (with several in-person requirements monthly)

Cons

Culture always had been very cut throat, you constantly would fear for your job and this would impact your decision making as you take on new roles. You are expected to wear many hats and pick up the slack from the apparent lack of resources. Leadership decisions often were short-sighted. Compensation was less than competitive and complicated to receive accurate commission. You are at the mercy of your assigned territory and teams. Was part of mass layoffs, despite being told that performance was strong. Shady termination process as benefits were cut a month before termination with no warning (and despite having been deducted from paychecks for the last month of employment).
