Pros

There used to be nothing but wonderful things to say about Cliffs….unfortunately now there is nothing but bad things to say. You get paid well is probably the only pro….but is it worth all the mental abuse, high stress levels and feeling bullied and anxious by management 100% of the time? Absolutely not….But Cliffs will dangle the money and bonus carrot out there to dupe you into staying. The people on the ground levels are wonderful.

Cons

Management by Mafia - you have an opinion or ask any questions….you're booted out the door under the guise of restructuring or going another direction. Employees are literally just a number….they could care less if your there or not. Totally opposite from how it used to be. The CEO has no problem spending hundreds of thousands of dollars sponsoring professional basketball teams and race cars so he can marvel in seeing his name on the tv screen, all while having various sites shutdown on layoff. Or shutting down sites for a year or more after losing a vicious court battle over royalty contracts…putting good employees out of work to simply avoid paying royalties to the people he lost to. Executive leadership is comprised of only “yes men”…site managers too afraid to bring up their sites needs so they don’t become a target. Meanwhile plants are falling apart because site managers were forced to accept unrealistic budgets so nothing can be properly fixed and conditions continue to deteriorate. Good employees, hourly, salaried and management continue to leave the company in droves because of poor treatment. Instead of replacing positions when vacancies occur from all the resignations, they force managers to oversee multiple depts at multiple sites, which is a recipe for disaster.
