Pros

I worked with a legacy company that was bought out by Cleveland-Cliffs. At first, it seemed they were going to be much better at showing commitment to their employees and making them feel valued. That didn't last long. But hey, they gave everyone a raise.

Cons

Cliffs C-level execs are demanding and will threaten to fire you at the slightest problem. It's a joke in headquarters, but with real fear behind it. The CEO seems personable, but only sees Cliffs as a manufacturing company, forgetting everything else that goes on to support the sales, shipping, security, finance, and all the other departments that keep things running smoothly. The "supporting cast" is expendable. Do not expect any leniency if you are looking to work remotely even part-time. It's not allowed, because manufacturing operators cannot work remotely, so no one can. But hey, feel free to work remotely on non-work hours. Weekends and evenings are perfectly acceptable. Work-life balance is not a concern here.

Pros

Very well paid considering other internships (I made 26/hr, there was another intern during my time who made 29/hr) Everyone on staff was friendly, from management to union labor

Cons

Toooooons of dead time No one in management was very interested in training us or giving us projects Dirty office environment, which comes with the job but also these guys were slobs Emergencies can happen on a dime which meant interns are pushed out of the way even more
