Pros

The peers and co-workers are really fun. It is nice to work with nice open minded people that have the same vision in mind. Climeworks is a very active company. There are loads of social activities throughout the year (monthly aperos, hiking, skiing outings, etc.). Climeworks also organises regular yoga and boot camp sessions (if you are into this). besides this there are also interest groups in running, climbing, etc.. There are definitely enough activities to keep you engaged with your co-workers and break the ice in-between teams.

Cons

I'm not sure if I should count this as a pro: it is a very interesting study ground to investigate further the Dunning-Kruger effect. In the early days when Climeworks was strongly dependent on equity funding and had to be frugal with spending, only cheaper less experienced people could be afforded. Those people stayed and now shifted up in hierarchy but the experience did not evolve in time. It is sometimes infuriating as an employee if you look for guidance and growth in order to evolve yourself; it is difficult, next to impossible, to find (depending on the team though, there are better and worse). Feedback upwards is also not requested by leaders and if given on a voluntary basis, more ignored than taken into consideration. There is also a lot of politics in here. You have to know who to talk to in order to get things moving. My conclusion: if you want to grow and make something out of yourself and your career I would most certainly keep the fingers off Climeworks. If you don't mind and you are defined by the purpose then go for it.

Pros

A great place to work cares about and supports its employees while also challenging them to grow with the company. At these companies, managers and their employees trust and respect each other and have a shared commitment to both individual and company success. Great companies try to meet their employees' financial, mental, physical and emotional needs. As a result, employees are often more productive, satisfied and willing to stay at the company long term.

Cons

There are no Cons. Climeworks growing rapidly and you’ll Have the Ability to Seriously Learn and Grow.

Pros

Great mission and a pioneer / tech leader in the field of carbon removal.

Cons

-Founders are first-time CEOs, and you can tell based on some of the sudden hiring and firing decisions they make at a very senior level. The way the company is currently being run feels very novice and fly by the seat of your pants, and senior leaders seem to be in silos. -US pay and benefits are not very good. Turnover is high. The brand name lets them attract talent but they struggle to retain talent. -Lack business focus. Overall, not sure if this company will succeed in its current form. May be ripe for an acquisition. They intend to grow aggressively of in the US while all key decision makers sit in Switzerland - doesn't seem very practical. -Lack an empowered US org structure and leadership. PTO is minimal and no FMLA / family leave / medical leave / sick leave etc is offered in the US. Overall, the company name is exciting, but you may be left hanging. They are quick to re-org, fire newly hired people or eliminate roles. It also remains to be seen if they have the discipline, skill and relationships to make this a successful business in the US. There are other players in the sustainability and carbon removal space that offer better benefits and culture...and probably a better business focus as well.
