Pros

- Compensation and benefits are good. (A US company might pay more, but it wouldn’t be worth the expense of work-life balance and being in an overly individualistic culture.) - The design team is composed of humble and supportive people who care about their work and from whom I am constantly learning from. - Work-life balance is great. - The company has a fairly good market position and a chance of longer-term success if they play their cards right. - If you’re a curious person, the legal space is never boring to be learning about. - It’s surprisingly easy to get face-time with and feedback from our customers. There are many efforts across the company to share their stories and it’s motivating. - UX-wise, the product is a bit of a mess and outdated but I’m putting that under pros because it makes for more interesting work :) Also have to add that despite this, customers seem to like the product and rave about even the smallest changes. It helps you feel like you can make an impact. - There is a big emphasis placed on D&I initiatives. We haven’t arrived at all desired destinations (more diverse leaders please), but the people working on these initiatives are doing incredible work. I’ve also had more opportunities to hear from diverse voices and have my biases challenged here than anywhere else I’ve worked before.

Cons

The company does not yet have all the necessary systems in place to properly scale. Leadership has acknowledged and is working on these problems so I’m hopeful but: - Knowledge management - despite there being documents everywhere, it can be hard to find all the context you need for a given project. - Strategy and planning processes - in the current state people end up with either too much on their plate, or too little, or don’t feel empowered to influence the strategy to the extent they would like. - Lack of UX vision and measures of success - this makes it hard to influence the strategy and roadmap or drive large-scale UX changes. Overall, I like working at Clio because I see the “cons” as opportunities to drive change. If that’s not a perk for you, the managers and people I’ve worked with have provided a lot of support through these challenges and there is a lot of opportunity for growth.
