Pros
The Pros: Beautiful place to work, great co-workers, descent compensation and benefits, great holiday party, and simple 40 hour work week.
Cons
The best way to describe CoStar is an unstable pyramid of fear; the further you go down the chain of command, the more fear is used as a tool to "motivate." The fear is instituted by a complex system of metrics that incentivizes employees to favor the quantity rather than the quality of the data they are putting into the database. It's simple, those who efficiently "cut corners" in quality succeed and are rewarded the most, while those who pride themselves in providing quality data usually never receive a bonus and are always in fear of getting fired for not meeting the metrics. It's obvious that the metrics system is flawed and unreasonable when the details with regards to it are kept secret during the interview process and even throughout training. In the 6 months I was employed at CoStar I had 3 different managers due to the high turnover rate, therefore I left because I realized that CoStar was a place for survival, not growth and promotion.
