Pros
I’m naturally a positive person but it hard for me to even consider being positive about this company or how they treat their employees. If I were to provide any pros it’s this company is a leader in the CRE data and analytics space and the amount of contacts you get to meet will expand your network within the CRE space. The product is easy to sell if you’re good at sales, it’s all the things in the cons section that make this job extremely undesirable.
Cons
If you decide to accept a job here and don’t take my word or consider valuing other employee reviews about the horrendous culture at this company, you will wish you took the writing on the wall more serious experiencing what’s it like to work here first hand. Get used to the following; - Calling prospects and having them immediately hate you because they hate Costar - Working for under qualified management all the way up to the executives - Unrealistic expectations that even when you achieve the results are never good enough - Being manipulated on a daily basis that you aren’t good enough and aren’t worthy of your career - Getting zero internal support and having to do everything on your own including billing, marketing, collections and forcing your clients to keep their data subscription or you won’t get paid for new sales - Spending hours with sales operations to get paid the commission you deserve - Having your colleagues try steal your business and take 50% of your commissions when they haven’t done the work to help (management encourages this by the way) - I worked for Costar for more than 2 years and the culture continues to worse. In my 2+ years of working at Costar, I’ve seen 15 sales reps come and go (what’s this tell anyone with common sense) - Costar rarely fires you, they just wear you out until you resign and they replace you like nothing happened - Costar only cares about their stock price and disregard the writing on the wall Save yourself your mental health by staying far away from this company, they’ll tell you everything you want to hear to get you onboard but you’ll soon experience the truth.
